Closelink introduces first independent spot market platform for marine lubricants

Creating transparency and comparability: Closelink helps purchasers to compare several offers per enquiry

Cost efficiency and a reliable delivery are among the primary objectives in marine procurement. From now on, Closelink serves purchasers by enlarging their supplier network through its online platform. An intuitive, standardized process reduces manual effort and creates the opportunity to compare offers from different suppliers. Closelink was founded by three friends from Hamburg in September 2016. Philippe Lavarde gained several years of professional experience in international sales of marine lubricants at BP. Eike Lawatsch and Tobias Schumacher have known each other since their common time as software engineers at mytaxi.

By providing an online spot market platform for marine lubricants Closelink reacts to ongoing changes in the market. On the one hand, cooperation of shipping companies have led to increasingly transparent purchasing conditions, on the other, there is a strong standardization in the portfolio of leading manufacturers of lubricants which led to a growing number of global and local suppliers. This change provides greater supply options which allows shipping company to conduct in­depth comparison.
